My wife loves congee. This place hit the spot. Sadly, they are a gem and have been found. They were sold out of everything and had a crazy line/wait. It's worth it. Just get there early, be prepared to sit outside if needed (wear warm clothing and let the warm congee heat you up). The food is incredible. We ordered the beef and kimchi congee (substituted shrimp) and my wife ordered the meatball congee. Both were decadent! HIGHLY advise this place as a Seattle Gem to stop in.

Highly over rated. I grew up eating congee in corners of the street of a southeast Asian country for less than a dollar a bowl. The food itself is a simple where anybody can eat and make at reasonably cheap prices. What really grinds my gears is that it took nearly 40minute to get our food and we had to ask for the drinks we ordered. The food themselves are decent but for 13-18 dollars a bowl, i felt ripped off. I don't really quite understand why it took so long. Congee is meant to be just soup with rice cooked. I feel that this place got good reviews and traction due to their marketing department. It seems like they should have paid for extra employees in the kitchen and servers instead of marketing. They looked super short staff.

Cozy, heartwarming spot in Ballard that is perfect for a cold day! I enjoy congee now and then but this place blew my mind. I got the tom yum congee subbing shrimp for blue crab. Portions of blue crab were generous and tasted so fresh. Flavors were delicate and sharp at the same time — I knew on first bite that I would be coming back again and again this winter.

My new favorite place for a cozy weekend brunch! The congee is so flavorful, I especially loved the one with lamb shank. Their matcha and Thai tea are great as well. And the service is 10/10!

Congee has always been a quick and cheap breakfast food for the working class, and coupled with the tiny shop space and the random assortment of tables and chairs strewn about outside, you’d be surprised that a bowl of congee here can run you $15-20 before tip. The profit margins on a bowl must be insane! We got the scallop congee and cod congee, and overall the taste was great, but the wait time between ordering and receiving the food was insane, like 1h, for a bowl of congee… I’m not even sure what theyre doing to take that long to get a bowl of congee out. At that rate they better be shucking fresh scallops and catching wild rock fish for my order! If there’s a line, don’t be deceived, it’s got more to do with the crazy wait times than the popularity. Overall although great congee, not sure if it’s worth the wait and price.

Hipster Congee. Interesting little mom and pop, counter style neighborhood restaurant. Customizable congee with a decent selection of options ranging from $13-25 a plate + +. The dining area is tiny and meant for turn and burn business. I’d come here to takeout but not a place I’d drag my friends or family to.

5 STARS I drove all the way from JBLM to try Secret Congee & I absolutely LOVED my experience. I got the holiday duck congee , 2 Thai teas & the fried dough. Everything was heavenly. The congee was more than flavorful & the duck on top was cooked to perfection. The fried dough went so well with the congee & the Thai tea was perfect for washing It all down. @eatwithjustinm on TikTok YouTube & IG
